Charity Wrap-up
The holiday season is often a time for individuals to reflect on the previous year. Remembering the happy memories and things that we are thankful for gives us the opportunity to gear up for another year of sharing. Arandell Corporation has many charitable events and happy memories to reflect upon in 2008. In late January, Arandell associates participated in a silent auction, chili, baked potato, and baked goods sale to benefit the late Tracy Sommer, wife of Bob Sommer (IS). The proceeds from all three of these efforts exceeded $5,000, all of which were donated to Bob Sommer and his family to help offset the medical bills that had accumulated since his wife was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer in mid-2007. The Waukesha County Humane Animal Welfare Society benefitted from Arandell associates’ generosity in the month of March. Together we collected over 120 items and $85 during our supply drive to benefit the animals at the Waukesha HAWS facility. Associates were able to visit some of the animals that their donations benefitted. A puppy, two cats and three bunnies came to visit Arandell and although none of the animals were adopted that day, they all have since been adopted by loving families. The warm weather in May brought associates outside to purchase lunch from the first Arandell Brat and Hamburger Fry to benefit the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. Combined with the profits from a bake sale, the brat and hamburger fry was the second-most successful charity event in 2008 raising over $3,000! Associates from all shifts had the opportunity to bake goods for the bake sale, help set up, grill and serve the food to fellow hungry associates. The month of August also brought an opportunity for associates to fill their stomach and contribute to a cause. Associates donated trail mix items such as cereal, dried fruit, cheese crackers and small chocolates. We then combined everyone’s donations to form a trail mix. Bags of the trail mix were sold for two dollars each on all three shifts to benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Our efforts raised over $1,500 to benefit the Wisconsin PVA multi-sports teams. To benefit the Deanna Favre HOPE Foundation, Arandell associates and retirees submitted their favorite main dish, dessert, beverage and appetizer recipes in the month of October. Over 200 recipes were collected to form a compact cookbook filled with delicious tried and true recipes. Cookbooks were sold to associates and retirees to generate over $2,000 to help provide assistance to women in Wisconsin, Mississippi and New York who are underserved or underinsured in their battle against breast cancer. The holiday season brought Arandell associates together again to help Aurora Healthcare’s Family-to-Family Event. This event provides a traditional Thanksgiving meal to deserving families in the greater Milwaukee area who might otherwise not be able to afford their own. We raised $600 to benefit the cause. In addition to receiving monetary donations, 14 Arandell associates and family members donated their time to help organize the meals and distribute them to the Milwaukee families. These six charity events grossed an impressive total of over $13,000! But we are not done yet… Finally, to wrap up the charity events for 2008, Arandell associates participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Arandell collected toys and monetary donations to benefit thousands of deserving children in SE Wisconsin. This cause ensures that these children will wake up to a special gift under the tree on Christmas morning. Arandell will once again be sponsoring four charitable giving campaigns throughout the 2009 New Year…one per quarter. The organizations that will benefit from these events will be chosen by Arandell associates! Thank you to all Arandell associates and retirees for your generous contributions to and participation in this year’s charitable events.

Saving Lids to Save Lives
2007 marks the tenth year of Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives program. Throughout the last quarter of the year, Arandell associates saved their pink Yoplait Yogurt lids to help raise funds for the cause. With the lids collected, we support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and its efforts to eradicate breast cancer, and help Yoplait move closer to its donation goal of $1.5 million. Every lid collected resulted in a 10 cent donation to the breast cancer research and treatment organization.
