Intelligent Mail Barcode

Intelligent Mail Tracking

Companies that use mail as an integral part of their business are now aware that the United States Postal Service (USPS) has implemented the Intelligent Mail® barcode (IMB), which is packed with valuable information for your business.

Arandell has achieved Intelligent Mail barcode (IMB) Certification

Arandell will work with you to ensure you are maximizing the efficiencies and cost savings that can be realized by applying the Intelligent Mail barcode (IMB). We have already mastered the science of applying both the basic and full-service versions. At this time, Arandell is the only firm installing Intelligent Mail barcode (IMB) evaluation systems on all of its production lines. To date, all pieces have achieved a compliance rate greater than 95%.

Mailers are offered two options for postal tracking, a basic option and a full-service option. The basic will replace the POSTNET barcode, and will allow mailers to present the mail for verification and acceptance, just like it does today. The full-service option will offer significantly more extensive mail tracking capabilities of your catalogs and direct mail.

Some of the many benefits of applying the Intelligent Mail barcode include:

  • With both the basic and full-service options, you will be able to optimize your catalog’s real estate, leaving more room to promote your product. Intelligent Mail tracking encodes more data into fewer barcodes than its existing counterparts. Fields include barcode ID, service type ID, mailer ID, serial number and routing number.
  • Use of the full-service Intelligent Mail barcode leads to a reduction in undeliverable mail through improved address quality, as it provides free address correction service (ACS). More mail reaching the right customers means a higher response rate for you, resulting in more money in your pocket. Did you know mail that is delivered to the wrong address costs, on average, $1 to $3 per piece? Your customers are moving all the time, so leave it to the full-service IMB to keep track of them for you.
  • If you elect to use the full-service option, the USPS will also provide free “start-the-clock” information, which gives mailers the ability to track real-time information about the status of their postal mailings. Since each container is required to have a unique barcode, scans taken at the Postal Service facilities will confirm that mail was received at the correct facility at the right time, and will provide data about when mail departs that facility. We can answer your questions about the status of your mail without having to speak with the individual freight companies.
  • Full-service mail offers the option to easily and affordably track individual mail-pieces by combining its use with USPS Confirm technology. Having the ability to track when your promotions are entering your consumers’ homes gives you the ability to more efficiently staff your call centers, and will allow you to automate some of the questions that your customer service representatives currently answer.
  • Accurate catalog and direct mail tracking information will result in elevated marketing efforts. Track the success of your campaigns based on when consumers receive your promotions, optimize your in-home dates and improve your follow-up telemarketing and e-mail marketing efforts. Your post-campaign reporting will also be more accurate than ever before. Once you establish predictability with your campaigns, you’ll even be able to more effectively manage inventories by tracking delivery and response. The Intelligent Mail barcode is going to improve your knowledge, resulting in improved customer relationships and therefore, a more loyal customer base.
